Career Planning Service

 

Career Planning Service, funded by Employment Ontario, is an employment counselling and assessment centre available to unemployed individuals. Employment counsellors will assist you in returning to work by helping you with job search, career direction, and training information. A variety of assessments are available to help determine your abilities, strengths and personal interests.  If further training is required to find suitable work, our employment counsellors will assist you with applying for financial assistance under the Ontario Skills Development Program. Our career research library provides current information relevant to your career or employment goals.  Our Job Resource Centre offers computers, fax and photocopying, and individual guidance to help you in your job search.

Employment counsellors are available in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Dunnville.  For further information or to book an appointment call our main office at 905-988-3880.

Job Finders Club

The Job Finders Club, funded by Employment Ontario, is a group setting for job search. Diverse participants work independently and together on tutorials and discussions, and actively seek employment. Participants often find a job during the program!

Participants have access to computers, phone and fax, and many other job search resources, even after they complete the program. Job Finders Club also offers résumé workshops and résumé critique services.

On this site users will discover the same core information available in the publication plus a number of Internet specific job search features. Niagara Falls Resource & Information Centre

The Niagara Falls Job Resource and Information Centre, funded by Employment Ontario, offers several resources to assist clients in seeking employment.  Friendly and professional staff are available to answer all your job-search questions.  Computers with internet access and friendly résumé software, five daily newspapers, fax machines, photocopier, course calendars, reference materials, and community information are all made available free of charge, to assist you in your job search.

School -to-Work Programs:

School-to-Work programs are administered in collaboration with the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) and the Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB); with support by Passport to Prosperity,a Ministry of Education initiative.The resources and programs offered bring business and education together to asist students to make informed choices about their future careers and the world of work through a variety of experiential learning opportunities. The objective of School-to-Work programs is to enhance the classroom learning and assist students with a transition from high school into the workforce.

Wage Subsidy Assistance

The goal of the Wage Subsidy Assistance program, funded by Employment Ontario, is to assist unemployed individuals in finding full-time permanent employment.  By hiring and providing work experience to an eligible individual, employers can receive a grant of up to 50% of the individual's wages for up to 30 weeks. Employers may contact the BEC with available positions, and we will forward resumes of potential candidates. 

In Niagara, this program is managed by the BEC with funding provided by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.

YourNiagara.ca is a community portal for the residents of Niagara, through which they can access local information and designated municipal services. 

YourNiagara.ca provides relevant community links and aims to be THE place to look for information about Niagara.  Our site has everything from festivals to farmers markets, from traffic cameras to weather forecasts, from local jobs to council meeting videos, municipal tenders and bids.

A lot has been accomplished in 2007, toward our goal of achieving a true community portal.

  • YourNiagara.ca now has a new look, an easier navigation structure, a highly enriched level of content and local news and weather feeds.
  • YourNiagara.ca provides a web-based registration and payment system available to all partners and municipalities.
  • YourNiagara.ca provides an interactive service request manager, polls and surveys, community events calendar, and municipal documents.
  • A job-posting tool has been developed to meet the request of Niagara's human resource professionals for a "Niagara specific" job posting service.
  • Past municipal council meetings or other videos can now be available for viewing online. 
  • The Geographic Information System has been completed and enhanced.  This is usable by residents and available for use by municipalities and other partners.
  • YourNiagara.ca operates a business information database.
